Why Pay Someone Else’s Mortgage With Your BAH?

Time and again I’m hearing from people I meet who are serving in the military who say that they are either renting or living in base housing. As a military relocation specialist, every time these words enter my ears, I feel an overpowering urge to educate them on using their BAH effectively and why it would be a good idea to consider buying instead of renting.

Why Buy?

Generally speaking, the reason it’s a good idea to buy is that when you rent, those funds leave your asset portfolio and enters someone else’s. Essentially, you’re paying someone else’s mortgage and not benefiting yourself at all. By buying a home, you may end up with the benefit of having excess BAH left over to increase (or at least not decrease) your personal wealth. You may even potentially turn a profit if you ever need to relocate again.

This list will help dispel these doubts about buying a home by outlining some of the concerns I’ve heard about and providing a helpful response that perhaps you haven’t considered.

Reason #1: I’m only going to be here for a couple of years

Most of us grew up in a time when buying a home was considered a once in a lifetime thing. We buy a home and live in it for the rest of our lives. But buying real estate doesn’t have to be a permanent affair. That’s where I come in.

Let me help you find a home within your budget by handling all of the details of the transaction from start to finish. Buying a home can be a daunting task to consider but, with my help, you’ll find that buying isn’t as difficult as you imagined and may actually save you money. Yes, it’s not as easy as renting, but I will do everything I can to make buying or selling your home a smooth and easy transaction from start to finish.

Reason #2: I don’t want to have to worry about stuff like household repairs and lawn maintenance

Of course, these are very valid concerns that any responsible person should consider. But with me behind you and with my wonderful network of preferred vendors, you wouldn’t really need to worry much.

Obviously, there is the expense of paying for home repairs but, don’t forget, we may be able to help you save some of your BAH, which you could divert to a Home Repair fund to use whenever a need arises. Not to mention the fact that such repairs are few and far between and we will be made aware of any possible defects of a home before you buy it.

Reason #3: Ok but, what about when I move?

So you received your orders and need to relocate. Not to worry, I will help you with that as well. Not to mention the fact that I usually have buyers already interested in purchasing, as a Top Performer for two years running, I’ll work my hardest to have your home sold as quickly as possible while trying my best to price your home to move and still hopefully break even or maybe even get a closing price above what you paid to begin with.

Of course, Real Estate can be a finicky market. But when you add up the total you could save by paying a mortgage instead of renting, factor in unforeseen household repairs, and leave the rest up to me, you may find buying a home a much more attractive possibility.

If you still aren’t convinced buying is for you, I can also help find a rental property to fit your needs. I am always available to talk about your options. Contact me today so we can get started down the path to homeownership together!
